Here are my thoughts on graphics card connector.
DVI cable is connected to digital media devices meet popular digital video interface, called DVI. The popular video interface technology is best suited for high resolution LCD screens and modern PC video cards. As computers DVI format is very popular with manufacturers of computer graphic cards, the most modern connectors have a built-DVI cable. As an option for a DVI connection, a VGA output port is also available in a standard computer.
So get replaced by technology HDMI, DVI cables were also used for transferring digital data for high-end HDTV and plasma screens. Nowadays, even other multimedia devices like DVD players have built-DVI output.
There are three formats for use DVI to DVI, DVI-D, DVI-A and DVI-I. Although differences significant enough to produce quality video products, consumers can choose one of them. True or DVI-D digital video format is used to connect a video source directly to a compatible port digital display. High resolution, better image is promised to DVI-D than what is obtained with analog technology. There is no backlag "observed DVI-D technology from analogue.
Analog signals at high resolution are best suited for DVI-A cables. To connect a video source with analog display such as CRT, DVI-A cable is used. DVI-A cable can also be connected to a multimedia device that the VGA format to carry similar signals. Technical tests have shown that some loss of video quality is observed in the conversion of digital signals to analog, which is why direct digital broadcasting is recommended.
A DVI-I uses superior technology capable of transferring video signals in the same form (digital-analog and analog-digital). DVI cable can be connected between an analog source and digital display using VGA to DVI-D converter.
